Daily · · Cline · 🌶️🌶️🌶️Spicy: act this week (security, deadline, breaking) Why: Silent model swap
Unpinned Cline setups got a new default model
Check your model: unpinned Cline provider setups now default to Gemini 4 Argon. OpenRouter stays on Claude Sonnet 5.5, but over 20 other providers change defaults too, so pin the model you want to keep.
Also new: Cloud sessions, rolling out gradually, run a job in a hosted sandbox on a GitHub repo and branch you pick and keep going after you close the editor.
In plain English
Unpinned setups on the Cline provider and many others just switched default models again. If you use the Cline provider without choosing a model, it now uses Gemini 4 Argon, the new first model in Cline’s recommended list. OpenRouter stays on Claude Sonnet 5.5.
Default models also change for many other providers, including Google Gemini, Google Vertex AI, GitHub Copilot, Fireworks AI, Nvidia and Poe. If you rely on a provider’s default, pin the model you want to keep.
New: Cline Cloud sessions
Cloud sessions run a task in a hosted sandbox on a GitHub repository and branch you pick. The feature is rolling out gradually; turn it on in Settings.
Cloud tasks show up in Recent and History with their status, notify you when they finish, and keep running after you close your editor.
Also fixed
- Long requests to local models (LM Studio, Ollama) no longer fail after 5 minutes of silence while the server is still processing a large prompt.
- When a provider error interrupts a response mid-stream, Cline now retries up to 3 times before failing the turn.
