Gemini CLI respects folder trust in headless runs
Update now: Gemini CLI 0.64.0 carries folder trust into headless mode, so scripts and CI follow the same trust rules as a person at the keyboard. File tool writes are also atomic now, and saved state recovers from a backup if it gets corrupted.
In plain English
Running Gemini CLI from a script should follow the same folder trust rules as using it by hand.
Folder trust is how Gemini CLI decides whether it may treat a folder’s settings and tools as safe. In headless mode, where it runs from a script or CI with no interactive screen, the new release now passes on the folder’s resolved trust state.
Also in this release
- File tool operations run one at a time, and writes are atomic, so a file is never left half written.
- Saved state is written atomically and recovers from a backup if it gets corrupted.
- Ctrl+C reliably reaches the cancel handler during active operations.
@file:linereferences now resolve.
What to do
Update to Gemini CLI 0.64.0 or later, especially on machines that run it headless.
