Four Copilot models just left the menu
Action needed: four Copilot models are gone as of Oct 2, 2026. Suggested replacements: Gemini 3.8 Flash for Gemini 3.5 Flash and Gemini 3.6 Flash, Kimi K3 for Kimi K2.7 Code, and Claude Opus 5.5 for Claude Opus 4.7. Update workflows that name them.

GitHub deprecated four models across all Copilot experiences, including Copilot Chat, inline edits, ask and agent modes, and code completions. The suggested replacements:
- Gemini 3.5 Flash → Gemini 3.8 Flash
- Gemini 3.6 Flash → Gemini 3.8 Flash
- Kimi K2.7 Code → Kimi K3
- Claude Opus 4.7 → Claude Opus 5.5
What to do
- Update workflows and integrations that name an old model.
- Copilot Enterprise admins may need to enable the alternatives in the model policies in Copilot settings. Once a policy is on, the model shows up in the Copilot Chat model selector in VS Code and on github.com.
- You don’t need to remove the old models yourself.
